Beach and Disneyland all in one day. Kids were happy, so mama was happy. Good times. Only thing that would have made the day better is if Brooke could have come. He's such a hard worker, and I appreciate him!!! Oh ya, I almost forgot. It was Josh's first beach experience, and I think he quite liked it.

Another Day at the Park...

Hurray for California winters! It was 85 deesgrees. We had to take advantage of the heat, and get out of the house, so we went to the park. Josh got his first ride in the swing. Andrew, Kira, and Ryan showing me their skills. "MOM WATCH ME!" Where was Caitlyn you ask? In the car drawing pictures. I guess she's too cool. LOL. The rest of us went on the baseball field, and played a game of pretend baseball (we had no ball, bat, or mitts). It was still fun though. Instead of the normal sit down and watch the kids have fun, I decided to join them. I think I will take this approach more often. It's fun to be a kid!

California Adventure Letters...

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of going to Cal. Adventure & Disneyland with family and friends. I think they had more fun with the big letters than the rides. Not really, but they did enjoy posing for the camera. C is for Caitlyn. Notice the dog pile in the O, and Ryan holding it up so it wouldn't fall. I even got a shot of a pushing match between Ryan and Staci with Kira climbing in the middle of the O. Little Ange and Joshy were enjoying the day strapped safely in the stroller.

Last week Kira's 1st grade class performed several patriotic songs for family and friends. I loved watching Kira sing those songs. It made me feel even more patriotic. I love my kids, and I love this great country!

Park Day Fun

So so sorry for the lack of blogging. I've either been too busy, no camera available, or just plain lazy about it. I finally have a recent update of pictures of all of us. I am so proud to be a mother to these fine young kiddos. They are my pride and joy. I love to watch them grow and learn. It fascinates me so much. As I'm sure any parent can understand. Here's to a fun beginning to 2009. May we all feel joy and happiness this year, or at least try our best regardless of circumstances in life.

A Quick Trip

While we were in Utah, we had the privilege of staying with my brother Todd and his wife Aubrey. He fired up the grill, and made us all some hamburgers and hot dogs. We even had indoor smores, made in the oven. We had fun with my cousin Erick's X Box, playing Scene it, and Halo. We had a most wonderful time visiting friends and family. The last shot is of Josh's first snow experience.

Thanksgiving Day

We had a great Thanksgiving celebrated in Park City. The kids were fortunate enough to use the jacuzzi with their Uncle Mike. He is actually underwater in the picture. Mom (Kathy) made her famous homemade rolls. They were very scrumptious! Since this was Josh's first Turkey day, I got a shot of him with dinner. He didn't really want any though. The kids put together a cute little skit for the rest of us. They did everything by themselves, even the paper feather hats. It turned out pretty darn good.

Tour of the Conference Center

While we were in Utah, we decided to take a tour of the conference center. There were a lot of interesting facts about it. For instance, it seats around 21,000 people. Amazing! This first shot is of Brooke's brother Paul, their family minus Maddie, an us on top of the CC. It had an amazing view of the valley, and of the Temple. It was pretty.

This is also on on top of the CC. The tour guide told us that this is how the Pioneers saw the valley as they first entered Utah. He told us that this is the only unkept garden that the Church has. In the spring, this is full of wild flowers, and is quite colorful.

This is on top of the CC too. It represents all the people on the earth that will receive the Gospel. You can even see our reflection in it.

This last shot is of one of the Christmas trees that was in the CC. I thought it was pretty cool. It says Follow the Prophet in big letters, and has a picture of all of the Latter-day Prophets. Unfortunately, someone decided it wasn't good enough so they started to take it down right in front of us.

I'm a little behind on my blogging, but here are the kids on Halloween. Uncle & Aunt Taub did a little carnival for the kids before they went trick-or-treating. The kids had a blast while the moms took a break. Thanks Taub!! Josh's little hot dog costume was a dog costume. It worked, and my little man looked cute. We had a great Halloween this year. Plus lots of yummy candy!

A New Do

When the girls got home from school today, Caitlyn asked me if I would cut her hair. Caitlyn has never asked me that before. Normally she gets all panicky if I even suggest a trim. I allowed her a couple hours to think about it before making a final decision, and obviously she chose to get it cut short. Kira was so excited by it that she wanted hers short too. So here are my two beautiful short haired girlies.

For those of you who are unaware, Californians will be voting on an important issue in November. Here are some details:

Proposition 8 is simple and straightforward. It contains the same 14 words that were previously approved in 2000 by over 61% of California voters. "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California".

Because 4 activitst judges in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people's vote, we need to pass this measure as a constitutional amendment to restore the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman.

Voting YES on Proposition 8 does 3 simple things:

1-It restores the definition of marriage to what the vast majority of California voters already approved and what Californians agree should be supported, not undermined.

2-It overturns the outrageous of four activist Supreme Court judges who ignored the will of the people.

3-It protects our children from being taught in public schools that "same-sex marriage" is the same as traditional marriage, and prevents other consequences to Califonrians who will be forced to not just be tolerant of gay lifestyles, but face mandatory compliance regardless of their personal beliefs.

If you live in California, and are registered to vote, please vote Yes for Prop 8.

A Happy Day!

Josh is now one month, so I thought I would take some pictures of him in his blessing outfit that his grammy made him. After I got him in his outfit he started smiling. I thought as usual that it was probably gas, but then he just kept smilin' with no burp's or farts. His first genuine smiles. What an exciting day. On top of that, today was National Walk to School Day. Brooke, the kids and I got up extra early, and met at the park with the rest of those willing to participate. There was quite a turn out. We had a police escort, the Principal, some teachers, and a reporter from the local paper all there. The walk to school is about a mile and a half. It was pretty fun, and we did is as a family which made it even better.

Rock Band

My brother Todd, and his wife Aubrey are in town for the weekend. We went to my brother Jesse's home to celebrate his wife, Kelly's birthday. While we were there, we spend a large chunk of time playing Rock Band. Brooke, Jesse, and I have a band that goes on tour called Fedex. Here are some photos of each of us rocking out. Caitlyn is really good on the guitar. I made Joshua a onesie with the name fedex on it. He looks like he's playing air guitar. Notice Andrew's little tongue hanging out as he plays. Kira totally rocked it out on the drums. Ryan is concentrating hard on getting all the notes. Watch out for a new family band. The Horspool 5.

We Are A Happy Family

Seven is the perfect number. I can't believe this is my family. What a treat! So, for those who don't have the scoop...I went into labor at about 10:30pm Monday night. 2 1/2 hours later, we welcomed Joshua into our family. Yes, it was very quick. What was worse is the anesthesiologist was side track by a c-section arrival, and they gave me the bad news when I was still at a six. I had a brief feeling of panic, then just dealt with the fact that I would have to suffer the pain. Luckily I only had to wait about 20 minutes, and he was suddenly with us. He's very healthy, and happy, and all of the kids are so excited to have a new little brother. Andrew was unsure at first, but has since warmed up to the little guy. A fun fact...His 1st birthday will be 09-09-09. Pretty cool!

We went to the toy store today, to finally use Ryan's birthday gift cards. Ryan loves playing dress up with his sister Kira, but usually gets stuck wearing her dress up clothes (if you know what I mean). So when we walked by the boy dress up section today, Ryan saw this military outfit, and said, "cooool, I want that!". NO arguments here. When I was little I was a little on the tomboy side, so I'm going to enjoy all the boy play time this school year. We'll get Ryan on the right track. Go Joe!

Back to School

The girls started school this week. Caitlyn is now a big 4th grader. Yikes! She was happy to go back to school this year. She loves her new teacher, and has had a very positive attitude, with the exception of having her picture taken at school. She was mortified! Kira is now in 1st grade. Hurray for the full day schedule! She too loves being back at school, and is enjoying her new teacher, and friends. She comes home excited to do homework. Hope that lasts. It's been quiet at home with them gone, but the boys and I are enjoying spending time with one another without girlish distractions.

Kira suggested a painting project. We got all the paints, and papers out for the kids to make their art pieces. While I was busy cleaning, Andrew and Kira decided on expanding their art from the paper to Ange's face. That's one piece of art that I will have to get rid of. NOT Ange, but the face paint. I hate to brag, but my dad did another "Surprise! I'm coming over to make you breakfast again." Two weeks in a row! I am absolutely grateful for such a kind and giving dad and pappaw. I certainly don't deserve him, but am thankful just the same. As you can see, we had french toast, bacon, sausage, steak, and of course, the famous Sherratt hash browns. Mmmmmm! I'll have to cook breakfast for some of you sometime, so you can experience the deliciousness.

This is Ryan and Kira stuffed into a bag. The only reason I blogged this is, because it brought back childhood memories of being stuffed into a sleeping bag cover. I love that kids can find joy in the simplest of things!

I Lova the Spaghetti!

At least that's what all these guys were saying. Normally I have at least one or two kids complaining about dinner. Tonight I had seven hungry little mouths to feed, so I made spaghetti and homemade meatballs. They loved it. Every single one of them. They were going on and on about how good it was. I felt so great with my accomplishment, that I thought I'd share the recipe with you. See Below:

Spaghetti:
A jar of Ragu (Tomato, Garlic, and Onion)
26oz can of Hunts (Traditional)
Spaghetti Noodles (As much as you need)

Meatballs:
I didn't measure any of this, so it's an approximation.
1 Egg
2 Tbsp Dried Minced Onion
2 Slices of Bread Cubed
2 tsp Dried Parsley Flakes
1/4 tsp Garlic Salt
1 tsp Worchestershire Sauce
1/4 cup Milk
Dash Pepper

Mix these ingredients together, then add 1 lb of ground beef. Mix well. Form into meatballs. Brown in a skillet with oil. Combine Spaghetti Sauces in a large pot. Place meatballs in sauce. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
Scoop over cooked Spaghetti Noodles. It's that simple.

Or at least for a few minutes. Brooke found this little tiny frog in our yard. All the kids had a turn holding the frog. After I took the picture of the frog in Brooke's hands the frog jumped. Brooke caught it before it could land, but thinks he may have squeezed him a little to hard. So we let him go. Hopefully he survived. Bye Froggy. :(

California Adventure

This was our last trip to Disney/Cali. Adventure. Have you heard of the Tower of Terror? Well, Kira went on it and loved it. She can't wait to go back. Of course Caitlyn went on it too. She liked it, but not as strongly as Kira. Ryan saw Lightning Mc Queen in a parade, but couldn't stand the loud music. He curled himself up into a ball in the stroller, and covered his ears. Poor Ry Guy. Andrew was freaked out by everything. Can't wait to go back.

Ryan's Special Day

Birthday's in my home growing up were very special days. Days that we had more privileges than normal. So, I've continued that tradition with my kids. On Ryan's birthday, he didn't have to clean anything. We went to the store, and he was able to pick out any cereal, and candy he wanted by the check stand. On the way out of the store I gave him some change for the toy vending machine. When we were at the memorial day party, I let only him swim (only for a little while). He didn't have any particular bedtime. For his party, he gets to pick the menu, and what kind of cake he wants. It just makes a kid feel extra special to have privileges that they don't normally get, and it happens only one day a year. Happy Birthday Ry Guy!

Father & Son Outing

Last night Brooke and Ryan went on their first father and son outing. They saw the same two bears that we saw last week, but this time the bears were together. Brooke said that when he woke up this morning, one of the bears was standing outside our car, where he and Ryan were sleeping. Freakiness. Ryan came home just as enthused as when he had left. He had a fun camp out with his dad. The Rangers plan on moving the bears to another much farther location in the mountains.

Brooke and Ryan's Birthday

Brooke's cousin Billy and his family, Angie, Ryan, and Sierra, came from out of state to celebrate their daughter Ryan's birthday. It just so happens that her birthday is the same day as Brooke's. So they invited us along with them for the celebration. Ryan's first birthday wish was to go to the beach. We went to the same beach that we've been going to the past couple of times, but it was freezing cold. Crazy enough the kids still played in the water. Especially Caitlyn, and Billy's Ryan. Nutty kids! Andrew was leaning over and eating the sand. I said to him, "Andy, don't eat the sand!" Then Ry Guy replied,"Maybe he wants to eat a sandwich." Funny kid. We checked out the tide pools, and found a couple of decent sized crabs. One of which Billy caught, and planned to cook, but then let him go. We even caught a glimpse of a whale again. After that we headed to a beach with a fire pit, and started a bon fire to warm up, and eat dinner. Even with the cold it was a great day.

On their actual birthday, we went to Ryan's second birthday wish. Disneyland. The first ride everyone but Andy and I went on, was Space Mountain. When Ryan got off the ride he told Brooke, "I hate that ride!" He was afraid to go on rides for a while,but ended up liking Splash Mountain, and Thunder Mountain the best. Since I couldn't hit the big rides, me and Andy went on the easy rides together. Kira and Caitlyn's favorite was Space Mountain, even though they were scared after the first time going on it. Brooke and Ryan had a most wonderful birthday. We all enjoyed it.

Mother Nature at It's Best

Crazy story about this day at the beach. I was talking to my mom the next day, and asked what she did over the weekend. It turns out she was at the same beach as us. She was only 50 yards to our left, by the tide pools. We never once saw each other. What a jip. In the first picture, you'll see some of us looking at the Whale in the distance. Hot dogs, and Smores, and Bears, Oh My!

Tonight, we went on a half-camping trip. We had the fun of a campfire dinner/dessert, and came home to sleep in our beds. All of us except Taylor and Aubree. They decided to tough it out. Tough it out, you ask? Well, when we arrived to the campground, there was a newly weaned cub walking through the camp that we were at. It frightened the kids a little. Grown ups too, but we still enjoyed our foil dinners, roasted hot dogs, and smores. You're killing me smalls. Brooke set up the fire, and kept it going for all of us. Tay cooked the food, or more like heated it up. Mike babysat Andy. The kids ran back and forth from the tent to the fire. The ladies watched, and helped kids as needed. All-in-all it was a fun half-camping experience.

Kid's Say and Do the Darndest Things

Yesterday, Ryan was my early morning alarm clock. It was something like this, "MOM! Andrew is poopy, and his diaper is off!" So, I jump out of bed, and hurried upstairs. I'm expecting smelly wall and bed art. To my relief, Andrew was standing in his bed, diaper on, pajama's still on, and not poopy at all. Where in the world would Ryan get that kind of prankster idea. Hmmmm.

Also yesterday, Kira sometimes switches the laundry for me. Last night she was in the laundry room, so I went to check up on her. She was on top of the washer throwing wet clothes onto the floor (I know, cute already, but it gets better). On the floor, standing in front of the dryer was Andrew. He was picking the wet clothes up off of the floor, and putting it into the dryer. No kidding. I wish I had it filmed. My one year old already doing chores, and without being asked. Kira is such a good example.

Ok, so you know that I'm scared of spider's. This morning I was getting Andrew out of the bath, and he was looking at me funny. Next thing I know, a spider was coming down it's web from out of my hair. Ahhhhhhh! I have know idea when it got in my hair, where I was when it got in my hair. Yikes! Yikes! And more Yikes! At least it wasn't a black widow.

Andrew's 1st Birthday Par-tay

What a most fantastic weekend we had! On my birthday, we went to the beach. It started out a little chili, and cloudy. Then the clouds parted, and the sun shone down upon us. It was beautiful! It was one of my favorite birthdays so far. Then on Sunday, we celebrated Andrew's birthday. He loved having everyone sing to him, but didn't care for the cake so much. He just wanted the marshmallows I put around the perimeter. For a decoration, I used Andrew's present which was two tractors, and added torn up pieces of chocolate cake to look like dirt. I got the idea from familyfun.go.com. Kira did the cutest thing at the party. My sister was holding Andrew, and Kira goes up to her and says," I'll take Andrew, so you can go get something to eat." What a sweetheart! All in all, we had a great time. Thank you for everyone that came to our birthday parties! For those that were sick, working, or in another state, we missed you, and know you would have come if you could. We love you all so much!

We finally have a due date: September 10th. They gave me an ultra sound to find out for sure. The doctor was able to tell us the sex of the baby. Our prediction of a girl was wrong. Yes, that right... It's a boy!

I can't believe it. Andrew is one today. We didn't have a traditional birthday party considering Brooke is still working hard, but we will celebrate it later. For Andrew's birthday, we went to the Stake picnic. Then we headed over to Grandma Kathy's for some swimming, but Andrew slept. We stayed for dinner. Then Caitlyn and Brin babysat while the grown ups visited. Funny side story...Andrew was giving his cousin Raegan a hug, or so I thought at first. Ends up he was trying to get her to pick him up to hold him( which is funny because she's about the same size, and only 10 months older). He was so frustrated when she would fall down or walk away. He couldn't understand why she wouldn't pick him up. It was really very cute. Happy Birthday little man!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. We went to Grandma Kathy's house on Saturday, along with Amber and her kiddos. We started things off with a most scrumptious lunch. Then the kids went on their egg hunt, followed by a dip in the pool. Yes pool. The kids were actually crazy enough to swim in the freezing cold temperatures. Amber and I stuck with the hot tub. Finally, we ended the day coloring hard boiled eggs. Today we went to church, and have been enjoying the rest of the day hanging out at home, and enjoying each others company. Hope you all had a great Easter!

Kindy Car 500

Kira and I worked on her Kindy Car for several hours yesterday. It was for the kindergarten Kindy Car Parade today. We are pleased with the end result. The doctor confirmed the rumor. Brooke and I are expecting baby #5. We too were a bit shocked at first, but are very excited! We don't have an actual due date. The widget I have set up is temporary until we hear further. We are looking at either September, or beginning of October. We'll let you know when we know.

Today was my Grandpa Sherratt's birthday. We celebrated by going to The Gourmet Pizza Shoppe. It was scrumdidaliumcious! Ryan fell asleep right after eating his pizza. Road Trip

A couple of weeks ago, our family traveled to Utah for Taylor and Aubree's wedding. The trip was way fun! We started off our visit with my brother Todd and his wife Aubrey. Next we headed to Park City. We were lucky enough to visit our friends the Fredrick's, but didn't have enough time for the ski day we wanted. It was worth it though, because we got to attend the Temple twice. What better way to spend your time, right? The wedding was beautiful. The reception was too. We are so happy for Tay Tay. I knew he'd pick a winner. I think that the only reason he took so long is, because he wanted the best. He scored. Finally, we headed back home Monday, after a final night with my bro. As you can see from the pics, the kids were happy. They traveled quite well if I must say. Thank goodness. I don't have any other pictures, because my sd card isn't working right. I only have these pictures, because Caitlyn took them. Thanks Caitie!

President Gordon B. Hinkley, has left his mortal body just a few hours ago. We Latter Day Saints are lucky to have had him as our prophet. He has done so much good in the Church. He has more than doubled the number of temples in existence. He has given us many wonderful words to help us in our quest to become better people. Brooke and I are truly blessed to have these four spectacular kids. Caitlyn, the oldest, has always been kind and compassionate. She also has a fun silliness about her. Kira, # 2, has changed the most in the last year. Those toddler tantrums have disappeared, and a sweet, helpful, girl has emerged. She is a joy to be around. Ryan, #3, is all boy. Except when he's playing dress up with Kira. Just kidding folks. He too is a ball of fun. Even though he likes to push every one's buttons, he still has a pretty tender heart. He looks out for his siblings. Andrew, our final child, is so cute and snugly. He likes to be involved in all the action. I am grateful for my little one's!

I Love to See the Temple

My cousin was married in the LA Temple last week. After we left his reception Brooke and I headed back to the temple with the kids, and my niece Hailey, to see the Christmas lights. It was so beautiful. My camera just doesn't do it justice. The kids loved it so much, that they didn't even want to leave. The last picture I love, because it has the American Flag in front of the Temple. I wish it showed up better.

Kira Turns 5

The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy. Starting out we had Kira's class Thanksgiving presentation. If you look above Kira's head you'll see a flower. On the left of the flower is a turkey with a green face, and yellow body. That's Kira's turkey. Immediately following she had a turkey feast and we celebrated her birthday party with her class. I kinda felt bad because there were other classes there, and only enough goodies for her class, but we were doing what her teacher requested. A child came up to me with his spanish speaking mother who basically pushed him up to me, and told him something I didn't understand. Then he proceeded to ask me for one of the goodie bags. Of course I was unable because I had only made enough for her class. I felt bad, but what can you do? Craziness though.

Then on Thanksgiving we went to the Sherratt gathering. There were about 50ish people there, and when we broke out in song for Kira, I think she was a little shocked, and overwhelmed. She got over it real quick, and headed outside to the big blowup bouncing tent slash slide thingy (the one's that people normally rent for birthday parties), and well she had a great time on that with all the other kids. Us adults even took it on at one point. It was so much fun, but my back hurt for a few days after that. Anyways, Kira is now 5 years old, and I just can't believe it. My adorable Kiki is growing up.

Family Home Evening

We had a spurt of the moment FHE pumking carving night. I was totally in the mood to try new soup recipes so we had dinner too. I made acorn squash bisque (which is basically baby food) it was delicious. I also made corn chowder from scratch as well, and a store bought ministrone. I think the ministrone was the most popular though. Mom Horspool/Grandma Kathy made her mouth watering cinnamon rolls. mmmmm... Amber brought her homemade applesauce, made with red hots I might add. It was all very tasty. A perfect fall combo. The dads did there usual. Yep! You guessed it...Monday Night Football, along with work related discussions. The usual. Then we moved on to what brought us all together in the first place.....PUMPKINS!

Next...we carved, and gutted the pumkins. The kids loved the messy part. Then they separated the seeds, and we baked some to eat. I ended up separating the rest of the seeds later, after everyone was gone, and it took me 45minutes. Sheesh! I tried 3 new pumpkin seed recipes that I got online, but my favorite is still good old fashioned salted seeds. We ended up with a Brin-O-Lantern instead of Jack.

The funny thing is, Ryan was so tired that after he used the restroom, he got as far as the shoe cubies, wrapped himself in a nearby sheet, and drifted off to sleep. Now all I need is for Drew to go to sleep. Fat chance.

Ryan Got Stiches

I never thought I'd have to take a kid to the emergency room, or at least I hoped I wouldn't have to. Well, Ryan fell and hit his chin while trying to brush his teeth, and so to the ER we went. Brooke took him in, while I sat in the car with the kids. Two hours, six stiches, and a large bill later, and Ryan's as good as new. He's was so brave.

He sat there with his finger in his ear, and Kira replied,"Ryan, you better get your finger out of your ear, or it will get stuck in there." Kids are so entertaining.

Service with a Smile

I am so proud of my man! A couple months ago my Pa had a heart attack, followed by a triple bypass. Needless to say he isn't quite up to the task of hard manual labor. So last week Brooke, and some of my other family members took on a huge service project. My G-Pa needed 44 pine trees cut down due to bark beetles. I only wish I had a before picture so you could see just how much work there was to be done. In two days, and much hard work, they are nearly finished. There are many piles of wood like the one pictured. Not only did he do this for my family, but he did it with a smile on his face. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that is was raining, and that didn't even stop them. I love this man! What a great guy!
